Begging for Letters

We received a cute letter from my parents’ World Vision sponsored girl Thineshka today.  Thineshka is 12-years-old and lives in Sri Lanka.  Usually I write to her, but sometimes my parents do too.  She does get letters sent to her between us each month, but I guess that’s not quite enough ;)

She writes:

My dear Foster Parents,Image
I and my family are very fine and hope the same about you by the grace of God.  I thank-you very much for your kind letter, stickers and card.  I am happy now.  I celebrate my birthday at home.  A very Happy New Year to you all.

Please write me more.
Thank-you very much,
Thineshka

What Alvin Has To Say

I received a letter from my precious Alvin in Uganda the other day.  Alvin is my correspondant through the Auntie’s Angels charity and he attends New Victory School.  He’s one of my youngest kids and I think he did a great job on his letter.  He also drew me a couple of pictures.  There is some sort of animal at the top of the letter (I think it’s a cat, maybe a mouse…) and some kind of design at the bottom that looks like either a big ball of fire or a big ball of water, I’m not sure which.

Here’s what he had to say:

Dear Teresa,Image
How are you over there?
My name is Alvin.  I am in the Baby Class.
I live with my mother and my sisters and my brothers.
I love my school very much and you too.  I love my teachers and my friends.
God loves me and you.
God bless you.

Charles’ Chicken

Charles' Chicken

Charles is my 17-year-old Ugandan boy who I write to through Auntie’s Angels. He attends and lives at New Victory school in Uganda and the school is selling their chickens to buy new chicks. (They get more money for selling chickens that are laying eggs and the chicks are much cheaper. They’ll be able to raise more chickens by doing this. ) The option was given to sponsors to purchase these chickens for our kids to take home to their families. I bought one for Charles and one for my Alvin, but because it’s a school holiday, Alvin hasn’t picked his up yet. Charles has gotten his now though and here is a photograph of him holding it.

Franklin’s Dark Hair

I logged in to my Compassion account today and discovered that my little Hondurean Boy is growing up!  Franklin has had his photo updated.  Now, he told me in letters that he had “Black Hair” but I thought maybe it was a translation error until I saw just how dark it really is in his new photos :)   I’ve posted his old photo first and the new one right after so you can see him age.

Currently… (May 13th Link Up)

I haven’t done any blog link ups in a long time and I miss them, so I went on a hunt and found one titled “Currently…”  Sounded fun.  So, here I am taking a quick little break from blogging letters from my sponsor children so that you can learn what I’m up to lately.  Only…  if this doesn’t end up Compassion related somehow I’d be very surprised.

Anyways, this week’s “Currently…” themes are: LEARNING, GATHERING, GIVING, WORKING, PLAYING.  (If anyone else wants to join, click the following icon:

Learning: I am learning patience from having to wait for letters from my sponsored children.  Currently I am waiting for letters from Olga and Alvin and hoping for some surprise letters from Esperance, Thineshka, Francois, Zaina, Mukesh, Franklin and Naomi as well.  (Those are the seven children that I don’t get notified ahead of time when there are letters on the way from them… which leaves me always hoping for a surprise letter from them ;) )

Gathering: I am gathering up all sorts of stickers and pieces of stationary and small paper toys.

Giving: I am giving all the things that I’ve gathered up to my beloved children around the world.

Working: Besides working at my job at the ice rink, I’ve been working on writing a novel which I’ve named Pomegranate Island.

Playing: I am playing this week’s version of “Currently…”.  Can you tell I’ve run out of ideas for this one?  Oh! Wait! I’m playing music… not myself, just on the radio.  Currently I am listening to the local Praise radio station through their Listen Online feature.

Pince’s Parents Died

My Compassion Indonesian girl Pince (age 13) lives in a very violent community.  So much so that they shut down the project last summer for a few months (it’s open again now) because the kids couldn’t get to it safely.  She goes through so much.  In 2009 her mother died.
Then today I got two letters from her, dated 5 days apart.  In the first she says her mum and dad say “hi” (must be a stepmother) and in the second, 5 days later, her parents have both died and she’s now living with just her older sibling.  (I don’t know if she means her dad just died and the mother is referring to her mother that died in 2009, or if the both means her dad and stepmum)

Please pray for her!

These are the two letters:

Letter 1: Written March 17th 2013
Beloved Teresa,
How are you? I’m currently fine.  Hopefully you are also fine and healthy.  God never lets evil touch His children.  Teresa, please pray for me and my family, and especially that I will reach my dreams.
Thank-you for the Christmas gift money sent to me.  I’ve received it and I’ve used it for my Christmas need.  Thank you because you are still sponsoring me until this time.  Lord Jesus will bless you in all the activities that you are working at.
At the CDC we just got a uniform and all of us have to wear the uniform to enter the CDC.  My mum and dad say hi to you.
Pince

Letter #2: Written March 22nd 2013
Hello my kind-hearted sponsor, Teresa.
How are you?  You must be fine, right? Because God always guides His children and those who believe in Him, wherever they are.  Amen.  I’m always going to be fine too, here in Indonesia and that’s all because of the power of God.  Thank-you ver much Teresa, for sending me the Christmas gift money.  I received it through the CDC and I bought new clothes for me and wore them on Christmas.  Thank-you very much.  Please pray for me because both my parents have died and I will live with my older sibling.  Pince.

Estevenson has a Headache

Here’s my newest letter from Compassion boy 11-year-old Estevenson in Haiti.  And I feel the need to clarify thatImage I have a job lol.
Dear Teresa,
I greet you in the name of the Saviour Jesus.  My activities are going very well with Jesus.  The Christmas season started well for me as I did a lot of great things like playing soccer, and throwing sparklers and fireworks into the air.  I am doing very well this year.  Thanks for the photos, the stickers, the letters, the information, your prayers and your love for me.  Yes, it’s very hot in my country.  I went out with my friends Youri (and Klarens) last summer.  Klarens is very well.  I’m very well, thanks to Jesus.  It’s hot in Haiti and I have a headache.  When is it hot there?  How are your family and work going?  My grandmother and grandfather died in my family.  I like school a lot.  Pray that I’ll pass my exams.  I pray that you’ll get a job. ~ Estevenson
